Accelerated product development by building a design system for Volvo Cars

Volvo Cars is a Swedish automotive brand founded in 1927, known for pioneering safety innovations and designing premium vehicles with a focus on sustainability, technology, and safety.

At Volvo, we iterated relentlessly. That often meant recreating the same components and pages in an endless loop. I led a small team focused on building foundations — the most essential, reusable components and design tokens that evolved as new patterns emerged.

  • Annotated breakdown of a design mockup by segmented controls, list headers, icon buttons, and tab bar components.
  • A group of components displaying button variants, including filled, shaded, tinted, critical, and disabled states in different sizes and with icons.
  • Figma design system file for Volvo Cars, showing design tokens, colour system, spacing, and component documentation in a multi-column layout.
  • Workshop scene with a group of people and a dog gathered around a whiteboard, discussing design system implementation steps in a modern office.
  • Figma workflow diagram for Volvo Cars, mapping out contribution and publishing processes for design system guidelines and assets.
  • Online whiteboard with sticky notes and diagrams, capturing onboarding, adoption, and collaboration discussions for a design system.

Before investing time into a full design system, we ran multiple, concurrent pilots hitched to ongoing product initiatives. This approach let us to piggy-back on existing momentum, find out what works and rack up some confidence along the way.

Reduced time spend in fragmented systems by streamlining sales process for Volvo Cars

Volvo Cars is a Swedish automotive brand founded in 1927, known for pioneering safety innovations and designing premium vehicles with a focus on sustainability, technology, and safety.

In 2023, Volvo Cars discovered sales agents were juggling fragmented systems to schedule follow-ups, send proposals, and track orders. I led a team that built internal tools consolidating everything in one place, enabling sales advisors to spend less time at their desks and more time building life-lasting connections with their customers.

  • Mobile and smartwatch interfaces showing an app for Volvo Cars, with customer details, offers, and follow-up actions.
  • Sales agent standing at a high table using a laptop in a modern, open workspace with wooden stools and background decor.
  • Two mobile screens displaying a car sales app: one with a detailed car offer and configuration options, the other with a daily agenda of follow-ups and new sales cases.
  • Figma design showing annotated components with labeled fields for cost, year, trim, engine, color, delivery, model, and status.
  • Figma design file displaying an array of annotated components for car details, customer information, follow-up scheduling, and order status.
  • Close-up photo of a person working design mockups on a laptop screen, focusing on large screen experience for dealerships.
  • Figma workflow diagram showing notification flows, mobile UI screens, and process mapping for sales case management.

Together with Volvo Cars, we ran multiple pilots across Swedish dealerships. These proved crucial for validating, iterating, and refining until we found clicked with sales agents. It's in these loops between learning and solving that we’ve find clarity and confidence.

Improved accuracy of risk assessments by delivering consolidated financial insights for Tink customers

Tink is a Stockholm based fintech platform offering open banking APIs and financial data services to banks and developers worldwide.

In 2022, Tink discovered that the overall risk experience was fragmented: customers using risk offerings had to shuffle between multiple APIs, reports, and views to get the financial insights they needed. I worked alongside product managers, engineers, and customers to build a centralized risk experience that provided a single place to assess the affordability of an applicant.

  • Risk report overview with annotated fields for personal, account, and financial data.
  • JSON data file open in a text editor, displaying sample risk assessment data for a user.
  • Income summary and overview card, with highlighted values and data mapping for salary, pension, and deposits.
  • Figma design file showing details page layouts for consolidated risk experience.
  • Figma parameter mapping diagram with entity relationships and JSON data examples.

From day one, we brought our key customers (AMEX and Nordea) directly into our process. This proximity gave us a view into their workflows and allowed to build functionality that genuinely solved their problems. It sounds obvious, yet staying close to customers is surprisingly easy to forget.

Increased early adoption by delivering a browser-based CNC programming experience for Sandvik

Sandvik is a global engineering group founded in Sweden, known for its advanced tools and solutions in the mining, construction, and manufacturing industries.

In 2021, Sandvik developed an iPad-focused CNC machine programming solution that gained early traction, but struggled to grow as many customers were desktop-only. I worked alongside a small team to transition the experience to the browser, making it device-agnostic and accessible to a broader customer base.

  • Browser interface showing CNC face milling simulation illustrating a facemill following its toolpath across a part model.
  • Browser interface showing a selected milling operation, tool details, operation parameters, and a 3D preview of the part.
  • Diagram of a programming panel component with annotations highlighting layout spacing and information structure.
  • Tool card annotations detailing specifications such as tool diameter, length, and cutting speeds
  • Figma page with detailed layout and interaction specifications, for components such as simulation bars and sliders.
  • Figma page displaying concept ideation artifacts, such as multiple design iterations, sticky notes and annotations

I'm particularly proud of what we've accomplished as a small team at Sandvik: from navigating challenges, diverse (sometimes conflicting) perspectives, and technical constraints to delivering a solution that enabled access to one of the most intuitive CNC machine programming experiences.

What I did before

I've spent the last 7 years working with amazing people on tough, diverse business challenges. I cut my teeth in manufacturing industry, shaping technical (and often ambiguous) problems into tailored solutions. Later, I led a team building employee tools for the automotive industry. Wherever I go, I balance strategy with a deep focus on craft, clarity, and collaboration.

How I work

My approach is rooted in adaptability. Balancing strategy with details. Creativity with function. Understanding with solving. I aim to be a collaborative partner who brings transparency, responsiveness, and speed.

What's my story

I had my humble beginnings in Lithuania, where I've studied multimedia design and journalism. That path led me to video journalism, front-end engineering, and eventually product design. Laying down the foundation for what I do today.

More to my story

In 2019, I've moved to Sweden and had the privilege to work with amazing clients and brilliant colleagues. People I still learn from and admire. Now, I'm based in Gothenburg, where I run my independent practice, helping teams bring their ideas to life.
